Olympic Handball Ireland (OHI) held its Annual General Meeting on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, at Irish Sports HQ and online, with a strong turnout from members across the country.
The meeting, chaired by OHI Secretary Michael Moloney, highlighted significant achievements from the past year.
Key updates included the presentation of the 2024 Annual Report by OHI Director Fintan Lyons, focusing on marketing, anti-doping efforts, and developments in schools and third-level handball. Maria Byrne presented the audited 2023 financial accounts, which were adopted by the members.
During elections, Mr. Fintan Lyons was elected as President, and Astra Handball Club nominee Balazs Bihari, Pamela Bastable and Maria Byrne were unanimously elected as Directors. The meeting also saw heartfelt acknowledgments for outgoing Board members Daniela O’Sullivan and Peter Caulfield, with Mr. Caulfield being named an Honorary Life Member.
OHI Director Andrea Ongaro shared updates on European Handball Federation collaborations, including a new coaching curriculum and advancements in referee training. A presentation by Professor Dominic Crognole from University College Dublin showcased research on handball injuries, drawing attention to its recognition at international conferences.
The AGM underscored Olympic Handball Ireland's dedication to growing the sport and fostering innovation as it looks forward to an exciting year ahead.
