With over 1,400 teams from 50 countries, this global event brought together young athletes from every corner of the handball world.

Castleknock CC were the only team from the Republic of Ireland in this year’s competition, entering one side in the Boys 18 category.

Games and Results

The team faced elite-level competition from across Europe, including clubs from Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Norway in Group 6.

While the boys didn’t register a win, they displayed strong spirit, teamwork, and effort across all six games — including a B-playoff 1/16 final match against SEIF/FFI.

Throughout the tournament, Castleknock CC scored 32 goals, competing with resilience and unity in every match.

Top scorers:

  • #8 Tom Foley – 5 goals

  • #13 Matteo Serena – 3 goals

  • #7 David Sinnott – 2 goals

The international exposure, intense match play, and team bonding made this a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.

Highlights From The Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was a standout highlight. The boys walked onto the international stage waving Irish flags, full of excitement and pride as they represented their country.

It was a powerful and emotional moment — a visual statement that Ireland continues to grow in presence on the global handball map.

Adding to the atmosphere, parents and families travelled from Ireland to support the team in person. Their cheers and encouragement from the stands helped energise the players and brought the spirit of home to Gothenburg.

A Proud Milestone for Youth Handball In Ireland

Castleknock CC’s participation marks a significant step forward for youth handball in Ireland.

Their determination, resilience, and pride in representing their country reflect the values of Olympic Handball Ireland — fun, inclusivity, and international connection.

We are proud of the players, coaches, and supporters who made this journey and look forward to welcoming more moments like this in the future.
